Just got this from EA "support"... I am about to try out the PC solution...at this stage I'm hopeful....but skeptical. I've been getting the "You were disconnected from EA Online (1)" on PC about 2/3 of games. Switched back to PS3 and had the same amount of disconnections also.

    For PC...
First of all In Origin, click the settings gear next to your user-name on the upper right side. Select Settings from the drop down and then click on the ‘Browse Game Installers’ button. A window will appear with folders in it. Now completely exit the Origin software by clicking wheel icon > Exit and do not close the window.
Now in the window, double click on the folder with your email address. Now delete the file called ‘Offline-cache’. Now launch the Origin software again
Now, I would suggest you to select the My game tab.
Now right click on the Battlefield 3 game and then select the repair option.

Once you have followed the above steps please follow these steps :
Please follow this path : C:\Windows\System32
Search for the cmd application, right click on the application and select the run as administrator option.
    Now type sfc /scannow.
After the scan is complete restart the computer.
Once you have restarted the computer try the game. The issue should be resolved.

    PS3...
    1. Press the PS button on the controller to enter the PLAYSTATION 3 XBM (XrossMediaBar).
    2. Select the Game tab.
    3. Select the Game Data Utility and press the X button.
    4. Select your game
    5. Find and delete all the files listed.

Once you have done that please run the game.

Thought I'd post it just to add to the mix of responses we've seen so far. Sorry if this has already been posted.

    I'll update my findings shortly...

This problem really needs to be fixed asap. It's turning me off playing knowing that I'm just gonna get disconnected.

Reading those posts in the link it seems like people have had some luck playing on servers other than Australian ones so I'm gonna give that a go and see how it works.

Not gonna do that fix in your second post Azeg, looks like it'll delete all the save data for the game and I don't wanna risk it

I don't think its just the Australians that are getting DC'd since the patch but the majority seems to be happening down your end

I've yet to experience a full disconnection but I've had choppy lag and flashing icons going like crazy. I've also seen a lot of fellow players getting thrown from servers like midgets from a fair ride.

They're really killing this game xD

Surely your saved game data is stored at their end too??

Personally I doubt it'll work - surely given the many tens of thousands of ppl having this issue it's a problem at EA's end not ours

You should only be deleting the game data files, not the save game files. Sometimes getting rid of the game data does fix issues with the game. On this note, though I had serious issues with being kicked from all EA games for a long time prior to the new patch and the only solution that I have found that has fixed the issue for me was to put my PS3 into a DMZ. and no more issues with being kicked.

What's a DMZ??? And how do you do that?

DMZ = Demilitarized Zone. Basically it opens every firewall port on your router, rather than just one. While it sounds like you are opening up yourself to an intrusion attack that's not necessarily the case, because you set your PS3 outside your firewall and have your PC behind the the firewall and still stay protected.

    Here is the process.

To be done on your PS3

    1) Firstly, you will need to assign your PS3 a static internal IP address. This means that everytime your PS3 connects or "talks" to your router, the router will assign it a different internal IP address. These IP addresses typically run in series. So for example, if your PS3 is the second device communicating with your router, then it will be assigned an ip address of 192.168.1.3. However, if you choose to use your PS3 without the computer being on, the assigned IP address your PS3 has will be 192.168.1.2. As this is different, and obviously will change, it would be stupid setting a DMZ up on one of the above Ip addresses, unless your PS3 was the only device that would ALWAYS connect using that specific IP.

To make sure that your PS3 is always assigned the same internal IP address by your router, you will need to go to the "Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings" option on the PS3 Cross bar menus.

You will be presented with an option which primarily asks whether you are using a Wired or Wireless connection. Obviously, you will choose the option which refers to you. If choosing the Wireless option you will need to input the security details in use on your router *If you are not currently using wireless security, i strongly recommend you do so ASAP*

Both selections should show a page called "Address Settings". Here you will need to select "Custom". Another page will then display entitled "IP Address Setting". The option "Manual" will need to be selected. This will display a page where customisable IP Addresses are available to be selected. IP Address - This will need to have the Static IP address in it. Personally, i use 192.168.1.100. I use this because it is extremely unlikely my Router will ever automatically assign this IP Address to a device, as i will never have 99 other devices connected to the same system.

Subnet Mask - Is always set to 255.255.255.0 Default Router - Is the internal IP Address of your router. To get the exact ip of your router you should go to (on your PC) Start Run cmd Type in ipconfig and hit enter, this should come up with all the ip addresses to do with your computer and the network. The address you will need to enter in this option is listed as "Default Gateway". Primary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router" Secondary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router" After entering all of these IP Addresses, you will now click "Enter" or hit the "right" button on the D-Pad. This will take you to a screen which says "MTU" at the top. My setup has this as Automatic, solely because i haven't a clue what MTU actually means or does. This won't affect your ability to set up a DMZ.

The next steps are very simple. You do not want to use a proxy server unless you connect to the internet using one, however i can be of no help there, and you should enable UPnP if your router supports it.

    PC Actions

    2) Now head over to your PC, and load up your internet browser. In the Address Bar, type the IP Address of your router (the one you found using the Command Prompt earlier) This will take you to your Router Configuration Page. Every router interface differs from an other, and depending on what router firmware update you last installed, router interfaces can differ, even on the same model routers. This means that you will need to search the router config page yourself.

You are looking for any mention of "DMZ" or "DMZ Host". (I had to google how to find the DMZ with my router). When you have found this, it will ask you generally to input the IP Address of your DMZ Host, which is just the static IP address you assigned to your PS3 earlier, my example was 192.168.1.100, so we'll stick with that.

Then click "apply" or similar. You should then turn off everything running on your home network. PS3, PC, Router etc. This is solely to make sure that the changes are applied as soon as possible. This should fix all of the problems as listed earlier in this guide, and probably some other issues which I, myself have not encountered yet.

This should work for you, if you follow these steps. I was a bit daunted by it all when I first read through it, but it is actually very, very simple.
