Should I buy Battlefield 3?

Lately, I have been spending a ton of money, and I don't have anywhere near enough to get this game. I am getting a new job soon, and will hopefully be able to afford another game sometime this month. I haven't played BF3 yet, and have heard very mixed reviews. If some of you guys could please be kind enough to give me some feedback about the game, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I would certainly suggest ifyou can playing the game at a friends house first and seeing wether or not you like the game because its not for everyone

As bigyin suggested, try out the game first. But my answer would definitely be YES. The Battlefield series is originally designed more towards the multiplayer perspective and seeing how you're a MW3 player, you'll probably find the single player lacking in "Michael Bay" cinematography action when compared to COD. In the multiplayer, the thing that sets this apart from COD is the value of teamwork, the map size and the use of vehicles. Battlefield 3 focuses more on teamwork unlike COD which is more of a lone wolf kind of game. Don't get me wrong, COD still has that integrity of team work but Battlefield 3 is designed to be played as a team. And finally as I'm sure you'll be aware of, both games are very different. COD is a fast paced action shooter where the maps are much more compact. The maps in BF3 can stretch for kilometres so you may find frustrating at first. But I'm sure the different experiences will transpire into enjoyment for you.

Mate I was in the same position as you, I started off on COD then got sick and tired of hearing 10yr old kids talking shit so I gave BF3 a go. Llike Big and Tezzac said BF3 isnt for everyone, it took me awhile to adjust. Getting kills, controlling vehicals, sniping (btw you cant quick scope if thats your style of play) and getting use to using different guns (unlike COD weapon recoil is more realistic) all took me awhile to learn, I still dont know how to fly a chopper but yeah you get the pic. If you ask me, even though BF3 is harder to play, it's worth every cent I paid for it and then some. I'll tell you one thing, it sure beats getting left alone to play the objective while the 10yr olds run around getting kills like idiots when we're triple capped fml.

The general consensus here is try it first, and I'd agree. BF3 is all about the teamwork and supporting each other. As other have said, quickscoping is very hard to do, and it does take a long tiem to adjust to the weapons, recoil and bullet drop over longer distances, but ultimately, I find BF3 far more satisfying to play than CoD.

Yes, yes you should. Renting wouldn't give the game entire justice but I would definitely suggest it! =D
